Burlington (30 miles), Vermont's largest city, is the home of the University of Vermont.
Fort Ticonderoga (35 miles) is the site of America's first victory during the Revolutionary War, on May 10, 1775. Benedict Arnold and a band of rugged Green Mountain Boys captured the strategic fort from a sleeping British force.
