The Garden Party was moved to a spring date to accommodate an exciting agenda that includes designing one of the resort’s perennial gardens. Kerry Ann Mendez of Perennially Yours will be teaching this unique garden design clinic. Kerry has taught thousands of gardeners how to design and care for low-maintenance perennial gardens, is a popular lecturer, writer, regional television garden segment host, and has been in featured in many national gardening magazines as well as on HGTV. The May 16 & 17 program covers assessing light conditions; proper placement of plants for three seasons of bloom; unique and simple methods for designing on graph paper; preparing and planting new beds as well as how to fix soil in existing ones; the best perennials for longest bloom and easiest care; no-fuss annuals; division and transplanting techniques; a soil pH test; and much more. In addition to designing a garden for this world-class property, the resort’s floral designer will lead a hands-on, floral arrangement workshop. All participants will make their own fresh cut flower arrangement to take home.
The program kicks off Sunday, May 16 at 4:00 p.m. with an overview of the garden to be designed and a walkabout of the site. Following the opening discussion there will be a 6:00 p.m. wine and cheese boat cruise. The program continues Monday from 9:00 – 4:00 p.m. including lunch and the hands-on floral arranging clinic.
The one night package includes Sunday afternoon's garden lecture; the wine and cheese boat cruise; one night's accommodations; Monday’s breakfast and lunch buffets; garden design workshops; floral arranging hands-on session; handouts; colorful garden catalogs; a soil pH test; door prizes; and garden gift.
