On July 9, 2008, Basin Harbor will host the first annual Power of Pink Luncheon and Trunk Show to benefit Ladies First, a Vermont organization providing mammograms at no cost to under insured and low-income women in the state and the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer. Registration and trunk show preview will be from 11:00-12:00. Our featured guest speaker will be Karen Meyer, VP of Community, State & Federal Relations at the University of Vermont and is well on her way to becoming a breast cancer survivor . After a luncheon of spectacular food, attendees will have exclusive access to the trunk show including vendors from across New England. Items range from custom jewelry to whimsical shoes, embellished handbags to hand painted picture frames. See photos below. Vera Bradley, a supporting sponsor of the event is including an item in the gift bags and also as part of a silent auction. All trunk show vendors will be donating 20% of profits from the event to the Ladies First organization as well as contributing an item to be used in the silent auction. Our goal is to raise enough money at the event to fund one mammogram for every attendee at the event. Additional proceeds will go to Ladies First and the Vera Bradley Foundation. Ladies First is a health screening program for Vermont women. Ladies First removes financial barriers which prevents many women from being screened for breast and cervical cancer and heart disease.
The Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer is committed to eradicating breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by providing financial support for research and research-related projects.
