Things To Do: This Week @ BHC • Reflections • Neighbors • Nature Center
“Reflections on Basin Harbor” is an innovative program which links the beauty of Basin Harbor’s environs with the talents of Vermont artists, and gives the resulting works exposure to a wide audience that delights in the results.
The program was begun when Basin Harbor celebrated its Centennial in 1985. The Beach family wanted to commemorate the event but could not agree on an artist, let alone the subject matter which should be selected. Instead, we invited a number of Vermont artists to come and stay at the resort that spring as our guests, to create works which were exhibited at the end of summer. The family selected a painting from the show, and guests enthusiastically snapped up many others. It was such a popular event that the juried 10-day show has become a tradition at the end of summer, beginning each year 10 days prior to Labor Day.
