It’s February and we’re golfing!
Although it’s February, we’re thinking golf! How could we not? It’s 4o degrees at Basin Harbor today and it’s February 6th. Captain Brian took some time out during his lunch break to show his daughter how to tee off from the first hole. Look how green the grass is.
Since we’re talking golf, this seems to be the perfect time to update you on a few things Charlie and his crew are working on. The new 5th green is doing very well. Once we start mowing in the spring, we will gradually lower the height until it is ready to open. The 5th tee was also enlarged and will also be regressed and ready to open at the same time as the green. 5 trees have been removed on the right side of 14 fairway. This will open up the view of the right side of the green. We’ve also been busy grinding down a dozen or more tree stumps throughout the course, with a lot more to go.
When Hurricane Irene swept through this summer, she took out a few too many trees. We replaced 4 this fall around the property. The most noticeable tree is the one that provided great shade while enjoying a creemee outside the Harbor Store. You’ll still be able to enjoy a mid-afternoon treat, but may just need to eat it a little faster.
And more exciting news, we are presently working on our 3rd re-certification for Audubon International for our Golf Course. Did you know we are the only Audubon certified golf course in Vermont?
