Day 7: Bacon and Peanut Butter (Dog) Biscuits

BHC Dog approved. Bacon and Peanut Butter Homemade Dog Biscuits for the fidos in your life.

Processed with VSCOcam with g3 preset

 Ingredients:

1 cup creamy or chunky peanut butter
2/4 cup nonfat milk
1 large egg
2 cups whole wheat flour*
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/3 cup oats
2-3 strips of chopped bacon (we cooked ours for about 1 minute)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 325F degrees. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, or mixer, mix the peanut butter, milk and egg together. Add the flour and baking powder. You may need to turn the dough out onto the counter and use your hands to work in the flour. Mix in the oats and chopped bacon. The dough is thick and heavy.

Using a rolling pin, roll the dough out into 1/4″ thickness. Cut into the shapes using cookie cutters or hand cutting with a knife.

Bake your biscuits for 18-20 minutes, or until lightly browned on the bottom. Remove from the oven, flip the treats and bake the other side for 10-12 minutes.

Allow to cool completely before letting your resident taste tester try them out. Store at room temperature or int he refrigerator for up to a week. Treats freeze well, up to 2 months.

*Unbleached all-purpose flour is safe for dogs, but whole wheat was more highly recommended by vets because of its added health benefits. Please consult with your vet about any allergies your dog may have.
