Family Memories, Family Homes
For one hundred and thirty-one years, Basin Harbor and the Beach family have provided an idyllic backdrop to summers on Lake Champlain. Memory making experiences that brought guests here throughout the twentieth century are the very same experiences that bring guests here today. Read the historic guest books, and you will see that comments spanning two centuries allude to an experience that had profound meaning for the writers. This resort offers a sense of place and a connection to family, the Beach family and their family, that is unique.
The earlier guest book writer may have been wearing a long dress and a hat and the more recent one a tank top and mini skirt, but the pleasure derived from the vacation experience at Basin Harbor is the same. The honor is ours to be a touchstone for so many over five generations.
With its incredible recreational amenities catering to families from grandparents down to infants, and its jaw dropping natural beauty, Basin Harbor is a magnet for families. These families have been welcomed by generations of the Beach family. They visit, relax, and remember what it’s like to be together in a safe, friendly, and fun location. Wellness, great food, and memorable experiences create a needed sense of well being. They appreciate the friendship and company of fellow guests and their hosts who share their love of this destination.
Skills are stretched and expanded whether it be on waterskies, on the tennis court, the golf course, at a trivia contest, or at paint and sip event. Laughter is shared and joy is had. Sunset dinners on the North Dock surrounded by happy people tucking into lobster and steak? Priceless.
Over the years, many of our guests have chosen to buy their own piece of this slice of Vermont and make this their summer home. They seek more than a week or two here in paradise. Summer is great, but so is Spring and Fall. Owning a second home allows flexibility and time in seasons visited.
One of our loyal guests, Kathleen Lyttleton, bought a neighboring home for this very reason. She learned about a house that was listed for sale in the woods community within Basin Harbor while staying here on vacation. Kathleen and her family have become friends, neighbors and frequent visitors. Her Vermont home here at Basin Harbor is her “happy place”.
I came to Basin Harbor as a youngster when my parents purchased a home in this same “woods community”. Our family memories have been tied to Basin Harbor for decades. My brother and I both met our spouses through Basin Harbor. Bob Beach, Jr. and I married in 1993 and have raised our family here. Our children, Merle and Dan can’t imagine any other home.
