Fun with Week 26!
Week 26 had another magical week!
Captain Brian had a great week exploring Snake Den Harbor with the daily EScape Cruise. He was able to show and share with our guests two baby Bald Eagles, along with the parents. There is an Osprey nest near by as well. If you don’t have a chance to take the cruise, you can certainly kayak or canoe over. Just ask the waterfront staff where to go for the best view.
Last weeks Basin Harbor Triathlon was a huge success, again! We would like to thank everyone who participated and enjoyed the event on Thursday. Honors for Team Division went to Patrick Farrell, Chris Farrell, and Jamie Havran with their winning time of 18:00. Winning Female with a time of 20:49 went to Colleen D’Alessandro, while the Winning Male category was scooped up by Sam Gardner and his 22:05 time. First Place Youth was the lovely Rachel Gardner coming in at 22:22. Congratulations to our youngest finishers, the creatively talented Ben Banchik and Barbara Banchik, who participated with their mother Ruthie. Basin Harbor recognizes Jon Harden topping our Senior Division this week, and we have a very special award for the Best Dressed Team, belonging to Diane Daych, Debby Wilson, and Suzanne Farrell. You looked great! Thanks for coming out to the Triathlon, and we’ll see you again next year!
The Recreation Department has been going strong with lots of kids and teenagers well. Harbor Mates, 6- 8 year olds had fun playing like pirates on the Escape Cruise. The Explorers, 9-12 year olds were really put the test on our very own challenge course. The older crew, 13 and up, hung around most of the week with our Counselor Ann. They stayed busy making Survival Bracelets and spent a few hours tubing one day. Great smiles all around!
Down at the Nature Center, Abbey spent a delightful week with the talented Banchiks and the artists from the Verhalen family, who stopped in for several art classes. They also helped Abbey keep track of all the animal sightings around Basin Harbor this week on the Wildlife Watch board. Looks like someone even saw Champ in the Harbor!
Did you know we bough a new fleet of Bikes? Don’t worry about bringing your own, we have brand new ones to rent!
Adam Kent, our new Tennis Pro has be very welcomed this past week with some of our avid tennis enthusiasts! Everyone is having a great time getting to know Adam. Be sure to introduce yourself on your next visit.
See you next year Week 26!
