Local, Fresh and Lakeside: Dining at Basin Harbor

At the heart of the Basin Harbor experience is the onsite dining: Meals at our multiple restaurants help set the tempo of our guests’ days, and reflect our passion for and commitment to local Vermont ingredients.

Here’s a look at our establishments and a little about the dining experience at our long-running Lake Champlain resort!

Ardelia’s at Basin Harbor

Fine dining awaits just a hop, skip, and a jump from your Basin Harbor room or cottage at our much-loved Ardelia’s restaurant. Enjoy breakfast buffets and dinners in the lakeview dining room from May to October and summer lunches in the Ranger Room overlooking our pool. The seasonal menu at Ardelia’s nods to time-honored culinary traditions while featuring plenty of kitchen creativity and contemporary flavors.

Our Fall 2019 menu included such delights as Classic Beef Tartare, Burrata in Kataifi Pastry, Poached Cod Loin, Seared Hanger Steak, and Pappardelle Pasta, with dessert options ranging from Pumpkin Baileys White Chocolate Creme Brûlée and a Maple Pecan Tart to our Grandma Beach’s Apple Crisp.

The Red Mill Restaurant

A renovated 1940s-era sawmill serves as the venue for casual dining at the Red Mill, where you’ll savor both irresistible atmosphere and a smorgasbord of crowd-pleasing eats and drinks. You’ll find lunch and dinner served here, with a pub menu on offer in between from 3 to 5 PM.

Red Mill favorites include the Basin Harbor Mac & Cheese, Red Mill Quesadillas, Fish & Chips, Ethiopian Lentil Soup, Duck Leg Confit, Lobster Roll, Pesto Gnocchi, and the straight-shooting Champ Burger. This is also a great place to try some local Vermont craft beers on draft or in the bottle, including our very own Basin Harbor beer—Red Chair Ale—on tap. The Red Mill also pours specialty cocktails and fine wines.

North Dock Dinners

In the summertime, you can dine al fresco-style right along the shores of Lake Champlain courtesy of our North Dock Dinners, presented in the form of several themed nights each week. There’s the Sunday Night Vermont Picnic spotlighting local producers, the Tuesday Night Harbor Fair with its carnival games and campfire s’mores, and the Thursday Night Shore Dinner, a traditional New England lobster feast.

Our spring-through-fall operations here at Basin Harbor allow us to spotlight local and regional Vermont bounty on our various menus. We’re proud to partner with a wonderful lineup of local farmers, brewers, and other producers and food artisans to serve our guests, from Misty Knoll Farms, Champlain Orchards, and Nitty Gritty Grains to Vermont Fresh Pasta, Vermont Bread Co., and Drop-In Brewing Co. (makers of our Red Chair Ale).
