Outdoor Recreation at Basin Harbor

Outdoor Recreation in Vermont

When you want a place to escape from hectic everyday responsibilities and get your blood flowing with world-class hiking, biking, and boating, you’ll find your golden opportunity here at Basin Harbor Club. Basin Harbor is a different kind of resort. Nestled beside a quiet bay on one of the most beautiful stretches of Lake Champlain, you’ll have access to boats, kayaks, canoes, and floating trampolines–as well as hiking and bike trails to suit even the most adventurous.

Hiking

The Long Trail (aptly named for its 273-mile length) dominates Vermont’s hiking scene. The trail constitutes a portion of the Appalachian trail and runs the length of the state, from the Massachusetts/Vermont line to the Canadian border by way of the state’s highest peaks. The Long Trail makes a beautiful choice for day hikers who want a challenge, and side trails stretching toward Basin Harbor offer visitors stunning views and an escape to a world many trekkers describe as more vivid than ordinary life.

Boating

Whether a kayak or a pontoon boat is more your style, we have rentals that will allow you to explore Lake Champlain for a couple of hours or an entire day. Complimentary rentals include paddleboats, paddleboards, fishing poles, kids’ boats, beach toys, and plenty of uninterrupted space. If you’re looking for a little more adventure, we also offer waterskiing, tubing, and wakeboarding, or you can rent your choice of boat from an outboard to a 20′ open bow. No matter your preference, you’ll find plenty of ways to savor the nation’s 6th largest lake with your entire family. Try out a kayak or canoe to explore the coastline at your leisure, or go sailing–with an instructor, if you need a little extra help.

Biking

Want to explore the area around Basin Harbor, but prefer to take two wheels? Try renting a bike to explore the area, whether you’re hitting the trails or country roads. Keep your eyes open for moose, foxes, deer, beavers, and even eagles; the wildlife in this area often hide just around the corner. Rent adult and children’s bikes by the hour, day, or week; you could even indulge in an electric bike rental to give yourself a break.

Consider your trip to Basin Harbor as much an investment in your wellness as a summer vacation. Take the time to reconnect with the outdoors–and your own dreams and passions–and spend time with the ones you love.
