The calendar says it’s spring but Vermont’s weather has gone from 40s to 50s to 20s to 30s with plenty of stiff North wind thrown in just for yuks.
But, the ice is pretty much gone from the lake except in the Harbor and hundreds of birds are arriving daily. A cloud of cedar waxwings made short work of all the crab apples which remained on the branches property wide. Gulls are wheeling across the waves, and the honks of Canada geese fill the air.
With 58 days remaining until opening day, soon the seasonal staff will begin to return as well. We can’t wait!
