It’s a special occasion for our guest Steve Jermanok from Newton, MA, who is turning 16 today! Steve will be celebrating with other members of the Leavitt Family Reunion, and we know it will be a grand time. Happy Birthday!
We had an outstanding turnout for our second annual Basin Harbor Triathlon yesterday, including the most entertaining Team Names in triathlon history! Congratulations to all 47 participants! Special shout out the athletes who completed the entire triathlon by themselves, including our female winner Oona Nash, our male winner Jack Yanover, and our youth winners Baily Kralewitz and Mason Yanover. Our first place adult team, The Dream Team, consisted of Andrew Ruvken, Jack Pryor, and Caleb Vinch. First to cross the line were the Pink Fluffy Unicorns consisting of Catie Vinch, John Batcher, and Patrick Schroeder. Our youngest combined team, Jack and Sophie Levenson, finished 8th overall. Congratulations! We would also like to recognize the Krulewitz and Demong families for their awesome finish, as well as Team Lemon Lime, Team Waffles, Team GAS, Team Winners, Extreme Team, and Team Awesome.
Breaking news! In their annual golf match, Giles Troughton and Joe Polizzotto defeated their wives, Karen and Janet, 1 up, when Joe rolled in a 12 ft putt on the 18th hole. Nicely done, golfers!
Did you know that the BHC golf course was designed by the famous Geoffrey Cornish, who is responsible for more than 200 course designs around New England? Originally built in 1927, the course then offered 9 holes until Cornish redesigned the now Championship course at a Par 72 with over 6,567 yards. You’ll find it incredibly user-friendly. As we say, “the only tough drive you will have is the drive home”! Private lessons with PGA Professional Paul Meunier are available, catering to all skill levels from beginner to pro! Call extension 899.
A Photography Ordering Session will be held in the Club Room from 12-2 pm. All candid images from this week will be on sale; 25% off! So, whether you are ordering from candids, our family portraiture specials or a private session, stop by and meet with Ann-Marie, to view samples, ask questions and place your orders.
Vermont is renowned for its dedication to small farms and locally grown food. Some of these farms are as close as a mile away from Basin Harbor! If weather permits, grab a cycling map from the Nature Center and take the pastoral 5 mile loop up Schoolhouse Rd. to Kellogg Bay and back on Basin Harbor Rd. You’ll pass two dairy farms, lovely marshland perfect for birdwatching, and Riverfront Gardens organic farm stand, where you can purchase a beautiful pint of sungold cherry tomatoes or some Vermont-grown veggies to take home with you.
Do you have a talent to profess to the world? If you were inspired by The Mill Billies and the rest of Basin Harbor’s talented staff, tonight is the night for you BHC guests to strut your own stuff! The Talent Show Practice is this afternoon in the Club Room at 3pm, and the show kicks off at 9pm.
How about a nightcap at the Red Mill after Talent Night? Order a perfect martini from your bartender Costas, the master of martinis, or choose from a variety of local brews on tap, including Otter Creek’s Basin Harbor Ale, Switchback, Fiddlehead IPA, Drop In Brewing’s Sunshine and Hoppiness , Magic Hat Honey Wheat, and Shed Mountain Ale. All brewed within 30 miles of Basin Harbor!
