Local Weather (Subject to Change!)
On this last day of August, we can expect a final blast of heat before a cooler weekend, with afternoon highs forecasted to reach 87 degrees. Some wind is on the radar, as well as a slight chance of thundershowers.
How lovely to have more familiar faces with us back at the Harbor! Ralph Sheridan and Ann Steer from Weston, MA are with us for the holiday weekend, as well as Pamela Winnick and the crew from Pittsburgh, PA. From nearby South Burlington, VT we welcome Robert & Shelley Snyder. Jeffrey & Eloise Patterson join us from Lincoln, MA for some weekend cheer, with the kids in tow. Last but not least, we are glad to see Mr. & Mrs. Dale Ransom back this year from Scranton, PA. We hope you all have a wonderful weekend at Basin Harbor Club!
Congratulations to all who participated in our season’s final Basin Harbor Triathlon. What a great finale it was! Honors for First Male Finisher went to Jon Savitch who came in at 19:09, followed by our First Youth Male Finisher, Anthony Milanese in amazing time of 20:12. Our First Female Finisher was 11-year-old Rylee Fesette with a time of 20:43, one of our fastest times this year! Our other Female Top Finisher was Ilana Siegel, age 8. The Siegel family also saw Sammy, Maddie, and 5-year-old Daniel finish (with a little help from Mom and Dad!). Special recognition goes out for our three speed-demon teams, Team Savitch, Team Fesette/Brienza, and father-son Team Naiman. Well done everyone! Train hard this winter and we will see you next year!
We regret that Cooking with Chef Tony has been cancelled for today, but hopefully you had a chance to enjoy his classes earlier in the week! For those looking for a creative, hands-on activity this morning, look no further than Wildlife in Pastels, where Abbey will show you how to use both chalk pastel blocks and pastel pencils to capture the colorful likenesses of our local Vermont animals. Sign up with the concierge, and come on down to the Nature Center!
Need a break from the rigors of outdoor enjoyment? The Champlain Lounge might be just the place to gather to cool off this afternoon! Not only can you rent board games from the Front Desk, but there are also DVDs and videos to check out. Constantin will be waiting to make you a delicious beverage in the air-conditioned lounge as you gather for a game of cards with the family.
A Photography Ordering Session will be held in the Club Room at noon today, and a slideshow of the images will be running tonight in the Champlain Lounge. All candid images from this week will be on sale: 25% off! So, whether you are ordering from candids, our family portraiture specials or a private session, stop by and meet with Ann-Marie to view samples, ask questions and place your orders.
Have you tried out the brand new YOLO boards at the Waterfront this year? Stand-up Paddling has never been more exhilarating, so head on down to see Tom and the gang, and rent a YOLO today!
