Happy 3rd of July! We are excited to celebrate Independence with you today and tomorrow, and we have a full roster to keep you entertained. Don’t miss participating in the annual Cardboard Boat Race, with construction beginning at noon and the race kicking off at 2pm. Always a good time! Following the race, enjoy the Bike Parade at the Lodge after giving your bike a makeover down on the homestead lawn. Meanwhile, we’ll be watching the weather forecast to make the final call on whether or not rain will prevent the Fireworks Show with the Bristol Brass Band from kicking off tonight, but we will put the word out after 6pm and reschedule for another night if need be. In the meantime, keep your fingers crossed for clear skies!

Have you enjoyed a meal in the Main Dining Room yet? If so, you know the quality of food that comes from Basin Harbor’s famous kitchen. This afternoon you’ll have the opportunity to see where the magic happens and meet the crew behind it all! Hop on board the Kitchen Tour and learn a few secrets about your BHC dining experience. For your patriotic dining pleasure this evening, we have a wonderful Independence Day Buffet spread in the MDR. Make your reservations ahead!

Ann-Marie will be capturing candid images today at all camps. A slideshow of this week’s candids will be running this evening in the Champlain Lounge. Our last Family Portrait Special is available tomorrow morning at the Wilderneath Garden.  Please sign up with the concierge by this evening. Private Portrait Sessions are still available throughout the week.

Do you like to keep yourself active on vacation? Look no further than the Basin Harbor grounds themselves to work off those extra desserts at the Ranger Room! Meet our fitness guru Scott at the Wellness Center at 7am tomorrow morning for “Boot Camp”, a fast-paced series of events that will take you all around BHC.

If Independence Day activities have only wet your appetite for Summer fun, we have more coming your way! Looking ahead to the weekend, we are likely to experience some beautiful weather, and we have planned just the event to celebrate! If you are planning to check out on Saturday, consider sticking around a few extra hours (or all day!) to partake in Basin Harbor’s first annual Berries and Bluegrass Festival from 2 to 10pm outside the Red Mill. Think berry cocktail infusions, berry-themed food and desserts, a beer tent, and of course 8 hours of awesome live music from some of the best bands in the area, including Belle Pines, DuPont Brothers, and Red Hot Juba. Stay for DJ Charlie inside the Mill afterwards! Buy your tickets now at $15 each online or by calling Sadie at ext. 832, or the day of the festival for $18. We’ll see you there!
