The Joys of Me Time

EA1A2667

Sure, a getaway with family, friends, or special somebodies can be unforgettable: A vacation’s the perfect time to deepen or reaffirm bonds, whether the emphasis is on fun, rejuvenation, or romance.

All that being said, let’s take a moment and sing the praises of “me-time” escapes. Solo travel can be just as rewarding as doing the whole group thing, and, indeed, it’s fulfilling in very much its own way.

Here at Basin Harbor, we’re a beloved retreat for families, friends, and couples, but many of our guests also come on their own. Perhaps you need a little headspace after an overloaded stretch at work or an especially trying set of circumstances, in which case our serene lakeshores, mountain views, and breeze-sloughed trees are just the treatment.

Or maybe you’ve got a project for work—or, just as importantly, for your own hobby- or avocation-type interest—and you’d like to tackle it away from the hubbub of your everyday environment. In the case, Basin Harbor makes a remote office of the dreamiest kind.

Cottage Days

Here at Basin Harbor, we offer a variety of accommodations amid the handsome and varied buildings of our historic resort. Besides the nicely accoutered guestrooms of the Main Lodge and the Homestead Building and the spacious suites of Summit, we maintain a lovely assortment of private lakeside cottages that are especially appealing to solo travelers seeking peace, quiet, and all-around tranquility. Whether it’s for a weekend or a week, a stint in one of our studio or one-bedroom cottages—where the views out the window encompass the riffled waters of Lake Champlain and the deep green or fiery oranges (depending on the season, naturally) of wavering canopies—can be profoundly meditative.

Set Your Own Tempo

Meditative, definitely, if that’s the mood you’re looking for. But given the outdoor athletic courts, the organized hikes and cruises, and the pleasant bustle of our restaurants and taverns—from Ardelia’s and the North Dock to the Red Mill and the poolside Ranger Room—Basin Harbor’s also a sociable place to let loose, strike up conversations, and make a few new friends in the process. Whatever floats your boat (and speaking of, we rent a lot of different kinds), you’re the boss on a me-time holiday: That’s one of the definite joys of going it alone once in a while. You set the itinerary, unhurried or jam-packed.

Find Your Bliss at Basin Harbor

In short, whether they’re looking for a calm retreat or a fun-filled weekend, we love serving guests who come to us flying solo. Vermont’s a topnotch place for me-time, and we like to think that Basin Harbor takes the cake. Call us today or visit our website to book your stay.
