It certainly feels like Fall out there! Temps are expected to remain in the realm of the high 50s and 60s for afternoon highs this coming week, with overnight lows in the mid 40s. The weekend might bring some moisture our way, but sunshine is likely in store for the later part of the week.
Basin Harbor is happy to see some familiar faces as we edge into the month of October.
Mr. & Mrs. Keith Fitzpatrick are here for the weekend from Jericho, VT to commemorate their 10th Anniversary, and we wish them a very special celebration! We also have lots of new and old friends heading this way for our annual Harborween weekend festivities over the Columbus Day holiday! We welcome longtime guests Michael & Cynthia Roberts of Hobe Sound, FL, as well as Barry & Tina Feldman from New Canaan, CT with Zachary and Ashley. New York City brings Marc & Karen de Sainte Phalle and the kids, as well as old friends Michael & Ruthie Banchik with the lovely Barbara and dapper Benjamin in tow. Also from New York are John & Marianne Fouhey—good to see you again! From Queensbury, NY we welcome Paul & Diane Alagna to the harbor with Gabe, while Mr. Charles Fradin arrives from Providence, RI. How nice to see Ms. Elizabeth Wessel again this Fall, visiting from Glen Cove, NY. Last but not least, Basin Harbor welcomes Bob Gilmore & Dr. Amy Gilmore, as well as Mr. John Gilmore, all from Greenfield, MA. It’s great to see you all again!
Wedding bells are ringing at Basin Harbor! We are excited to welcome friends and family of Michelle Guillette and Jason Rodriguez, who are here this weekend to celebrate the union of the happy couple. Also tying the knot this weekend are Scott Donohue and the lovely Tory Watts, who will be married in the company of their family and friends here at the Harbor. We are so glad to have you all here, and wish our newlyweds many years of happiness ahead!
Whether you’ve never been out on Lake Champlain before or have stepped aboard our Narrated Cruise on the EScape many times in past years, it’s always a fine time for an EScape! Join Captain Brian for a fun and fascinating lake tour to the Palisades, past shipwrecks, and up Otter Creek every weekday at 2:30pm and special times on weekends. Sign up with the concierge in advance.
While you’re out gallivanting around property, see if you can find our hidden Checkerboard Stump in the woods! Grab a friend and play a game or two amidst the maples. Hint: the stump is located on the Button Bay Trail, with a view of the 4th Green!
If you are admiring our handsome new fleet of bicycles, why not rent one? Stop by the Waterfront to pick up a cycling map of the area and head out for a crisp Autumn ride! Bikes are available by the hour, day, or for the entire week!
Flashback fact: In 1999, Vermont legislature designated the apple as the state fruit, and apple pie as the state pie! This time of year, our favorite fruits are in full swing. Don’t forget to enjoy one a day (or more!) from our well-stocked supply in the lobby. Sip on a cup of complimentary hot or cold Vermont apple cider in the Champlain Lounge from 3pm-5pm each day, accompanied by a tray full of delicious maple cookies! Or for a more hands-on approach and a real treat of a country drive, head down Monkton Road to Boyers Orchard to pick your own peck, sample cider straight from the press, and experience a fresh cider donut!
