Expect a sunny weekend with afternoons reaching the upper 60s, and partly sunny skies continuing into the early part of this week. The Harbor may see some clouds rolling in mid-week, with temperatures remaining in the mid-60s during the day an cooling to the 40s overnight.

Basin Harbor is thrilled to see some familiar faces during our very last week of the 2013 season! John Gilmore is here from Greenfield, MA, joined by Bob & Amy Gilmore, Charlotte and Tice. From New York, NY we welcome Marianne Fouhey, as well as Michael & Ruthie Banchik, Barbara, and Benjamin. Great to see you all again! Rich Paterniti and the family are here from Walpole, MA, while Kevin & Kathy Cragin visit from Newtown, CT with Daniel. Rebecca Nordhaus and family from Boston, MA join us this week, and we welcome Graham Goldsmith and his family to the Harbor, as well. From Malta, NY we welcome Monique Kaldy with the family, while Lake Carmel, NY brings Craig & Julia Davis. Joining us from nearby Charlotte, VT are our friends James & Deborah Squires, and Keith & Jamie Waldman visit from West Hartford, CT. We are pleased to see Marie Sabourin and the family back at the Harbor from Outremont, Quebec! Gerry & Tricia DeSantis of Saugus, MA are here, and Michael & Bridget Abler make the trip down from Burlington. BHC welcomes Scott Sedita of Woodridge, NJ, as well as our friends Michael & Valerie McKeever who are here from Greenwich, CT with Maggie, Matt, and Mike.

A number of our guests are here during this fine week of October to celebrate special Anniversaries! We welcome Jim & Barb Ouimette on their Ruby Anniversary, celebrating 40 years of marriage! Gary & Lori Gothard are here for their 20th Anniversary, while Howard & Candace Hoffman of Addison, VT celebrate 16 years. We wish another Happy Anniversary to Dena Greenman and Matt Wooten from Cornwall, VT, who were married at BHC 11 years ago! Mr. & Mrs. Jason Frank from Burlington, VT visit us this week on their 4th Anniversary, and we congratulate Jim & Debbie Hughes on their 3rd year of marriage. Basin Harbor is pleased to welcome Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Kelly of Stratford, CT, here to celebrate their Honeymoon. Congratulations to our newlyweds, and our happily married couples!

We are pleased to welcome the friends and family of Meg Modley and Andrew Gilbertson, a lovely pair who will by tying the knot on Sunday! Meg and Andrew make their home in the Burlington area, and Basin Harbor is pleased to host this very special Wedding occasion. Cheers to the bride and groom!

Look out for ghosts and goblins and all manner of ghoulish fun—it’s time for Harborween! Basin Harbor’s annual Columbus Day Weekend boo-tastic-festival is better than ever this year, with new crafts, a haunted hayride, cookie decorating, caramel apple dipping, and our re-invented Trick-Or-Treat Trail. You can even learn to create fancy carved jack-o-lanterns with Creative Pumpkinry 101. Enjoy our Harborween Buffet on Saturday night, and consider making a reservation for a special Wine Dinner on Sunday. See the back of the Breeze for our complete lineup!

This fine Autumn weather is ideal for your outdoor adventuring. Visit the Nature Center below the Homestead to pick up a trail map, hiking guide, or cycling guide and get out into the beautiful countryside of the Champlain Valley. Don’t forget that the waterfront is still open for business with bike and boat rentals of all kinds, and you can still enjoy a Narrated Cruise on Lake Champlain aboard The EScape! Sign up with the concierge for our daily cruise and learn all about the wonders and historical significance of our beloved lake. The Treehouse Wellness Center is also still open for business, so take advantage of our collection of fitness equipment or sign up for a weekend fitness class.

Basin Harbor’s Blue Chair Day Spa is available on a limited basis this time of year, but we’d love to book a treatment for you! See the concierge for availability. The Breezeway Gift Shop in the lobby will be open from 8:30am-Noon on Mon-Thurs and 8:30am-5:00pm on Friday and Saturday. Be sure to stock up on souvenirs, BHC merchandise and other goodies for your trip back home.

Harborween Weekend brings great fun to your evenings! Come by the Sunshine Lawn on Friday at 8pm to practice your marshmallow charring techniques at our S’Mores Bar and campfire. Then watch back-to-back scary movies in the Club Room, or visit the Red Mill to sample a fine selection of local brews on tap. On Saturday, get ready for one of the most entertaining nights of the year at Basin Harbor Club, our annual Harborween Costume Ball and Dance Party, hosted by everyone’s favorite DJ Charlie. Who will win the costume contest this year? Then on Sunday night come to the Club Room for The Vampire Princess, tales of humor and suspense from “Vermont’s master storytellers,” Tim Jennings and Leanne Ponder.

If this weekend has just wet your whistle for BHC celebrations, don’t miss out on our closing weekend festival, Rocktoberfest! Saturday, October 19 brings Beer, Bacon, and Bands to BHC. Enjoy all manner of bacon-themed delights in the form of soups, skewers, burgers, and even desserts! We will also have a full lineup of fabulous live music and plenty of suds a-flowin’!
