It’s Abercrombie & Fitch time! Every year in October, Basin Harbor looks forward to hosting the A&F District Managers Retreat for two days of fun, games, and team-building exercises. We welcome Abercrombie on Wednesday.
Fall is in the air! The leaves are changing, the days are crisp, and the pumpkins are out! Celebrate the season with complimentary apple cider (hot or cold!) and our signature maple shortbread cookies in the Champlain Lounge from 3-5pm every day. Enjoy a fresh-picked Macintosh or Granny Smith apple from our apple bin in the lobby, or take your own adventure to one of the nearby apple orchards to pick your own peck and partake of Vermont’s famous cider donuts. Try Shelburne Orchards just south of Burlington or Boyer’s Orchard in nearby Monkton.
This fine Autumn weather is ideal for your outdoor adventuring! Visit the Nature Center below the Homestead to pick up a trail map, hiking guide, or cycling guide and get out into the beautiful countryside of the Champlain Valley. While you’re at the Nature Center, take a gander at our displays about geology, Lake Champlain shipwrecks, the legend of Champ, edible plants, and more! Don’t forget that the waterfront is still open for business with bike and boat rentals of all kinds—it’s not too cold for an afternoon kayak paddle on the lake! If the gym is more your scene, visit the Treehouse Wellness Center to take advantage of our collection of fitness equipment.
Basin Harbor’s Blue Chair Day Spa is available on a limited basis this time of year, but we’d love to book a treatment for you! Our masseuse Patti will be available Friday, Saturday, and Monday. Book your pampering appointments with the concierge.
Enjoy a Narrated Cruise on Lake Champlain aboard The EScape! Sign up with the concierge for our daily cruise and learn all about the wonders and historical significance of our beloved lake. If you’d like to see the lake from way up high, take advantage of a very special end-of-season opportunity to hop on a float plane ride! Visit the concierge to book a short flightseeing adventure with pilot Dave Bahnson and his 3-seat Piper PA12 Floatplane on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.
The Breezeway Gift Shop in the lobby will be open from 8:30am-Noon on Mon-Thurs and 8:30am-5:00pm on Friday and Saturday. Be sure to stock up on souvenirs, BHC merchandise and other goodies for your trip back home.
Get ready for some weekend fun! On Friday at 8pm, come by the Sunshine Lawn to practice your marshmallow charring techniques at our S’Mores Bar and campfire. Then visit the Red Mill afterwards with your very best dance moves for Reggae Night, a dance party hosted by DJ Demus, the legendary maestro of reggae at Nectar’s in Burlington! On Saturday, enjoy live music by local band Panton Flats for some bluesy, funky rock & roll. Sample a fine selection of local brews on tap, including Switchback, Fiddlehead IPA, Otter Creek’s Basin Harbor Ale and Hop Session, and Shed Mountain Ale. For a seasonal sip, try Oktoberfest by Harpoon.
If you’re planning to be in the area during Basin Harbor’s Closing Weekend, don’t miss out on the greatest Bacon Party around, BHC’s own Rocktoberfest on Friday, October 18. Indulge in all manner of bacon-themed delights like bacon cider chowder, bacon flatbread, and peanut butter banana bacon whoopee pies! We will also have a full lineup of fabulous live music and plenty of suds a-flowin’! Buy your tickets in advance online at basinharbor.com/rocktoberfest.
