Winter Mulled Wine Recipe

‘Tis the season for warm beverages, here’s a wonderful mulled wine recipe you have to try this year!


1 bottle red wine (Wine on the fruitier sweet wine makes for a better batch)
3 cups unsweetened apple cider
1/4 cinnamon sticks
1 vanilla bean
5 star anise
1 tsp cloves
1 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 cup brand
1 lemon
1 lime
1 orange

Using either a slow cooker or a large pot, add wine, cider and honey, medium heat.

In a small sauce pan you’re going to lightly roast some of the other ingredients to bring out the flavors and aromatics. Place cinnamon sticks, vanilla bean cut lengthwise, star anise, cloves and nutmeg in a small saucepan and roast over medium heat for about five minutes. Toss around the contents with a wooden spoon. Add this mixture to the wine mixture and continue to heat for about 25-30 minutes. Be sure the mixture does not achieve a boil, stir occasionally, making sure the honey dissolves.

Slice the lemon and orange into thin circle slices. Adding some of them to the mixture for the last 5-10 minutes of heating.

Remove from heat or leave simmering to keep it warm and enjoy! Garnish with remaining citrus or a festive cranberry or two.
