Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly does the Service Fee Cover?

Service fee is used in lieu of gratuities/gratuities for any meals (food) included within the package stated above. The service fee applicable to your meal plan is pooled and distributed to all service employees: All dining venue servers, hostesses, captains, dining room assistants and housekeepers. It is to your discretion to leave additional gratuities if you are on a meal plan.

The service fee on the European Plan (Best Available Rate) and Bed & Breakfast Plan is 9% per night. On the Full and Modified American Plans, the service fee is 18%. The service fee in the state of Vermont is a taxable item.

What is the dress code?

Resort casual is the dress for the resort with the exception of Ardelia’s in the evening. Our main dining room offers an elevated dining experience for dinner. Collared shirts are suggested. Seasonal sport coat or blazer has been a long standing tradition at BH but not required. (Doesn’t mean the seersucker and bowtie is out of place!) Please no athletic wear, sport wear, pool attire or gentleman’s hats. We like to refer to the style as “dressy casual”. Appropriate dress for women is also requested.

What do I need to Bring?

-We provide towels in your accommodation for bathing. Beach and pool towels are also provided at each respective location. So leave room for something else in your suitcase!
-Pack a sweatshirt or a light sweater. Evenings in the Champlain Valley can be chilly.
-Your favorite sunscreen and mosquito repellent. We sell these in our gift shop in case you forget!
-Snazzy attire for dinner in the Main Dining Room!
-Swim Suit! The closest retailer (in case you forget) is 30 min away.
-A good book. We embrace our tradition of no TV’s in the rooms. So catch up on the latest thriller, the best tearjerker or that autobiography you have been meaning to get to.

What’s the Weather going to be like?
